FUTURE
Legendary Rocker Chuck Swanson dies in 2045. His body is found in the canal.
After years of drung abuse and wild parties Swanson was said to have been depressed and on the verge of suicide as he is swamped with bad press over an apparent sex offence. The tabloids have not left him alone for months and as his new single was about to be released, entitled "Fuck you, I didn't do it" his bloated body is found in the canal water.
An investigation is under way as how the singer died but it is widely felt this was a desperate call for help, gone wrong.

Battle of the Canal
PAST

Some of the sea scenes of the 1956 film 'Battle of the River Plate' were shot on the canal here. Frogmen tended the models in the canal, clearing the water voles off the models and out of the canal ready for each shot.

Um favourite bits, probably by the canal, just at the top of Hoxton. Again partly it's the route, you can get straight up to Angel one way and to Hackney the other way. It's just a good resource to have in the area, a little green ribbon going through it.
I don't know about stories, it's always a good area to keep your eyes open. There's a lot of bird life around there, mostly it's just a couple of old mallards or coots and moorhens but you get otherstuff, you get the occasional heron, common turn, there was a little grebe there last year for about three weeks. This time of year there are dragonflys around. British Water Space have changed their management of the towpath as well so it's not all just very short grass, you've got a strip of quite long grass and as you walk down that you've got the butterflys but you also hear the grasshoppers there which you just don't get anywhere else in Shoreditch.

One small change, um, is that on the estates and Shoreditch park, they have started to manage it less intensely, so as i said, it's not all just short grass now, they will actually leave it so that they grass is longer and now the plants grow, the flowers can actually grow a few stem seeds which produces food sources for birds and lavae sources for caterpillers and stuff. So yeah there could be an improvement for the types of birds we can see in the area.
